One December day, I was in the middle of painting a wall in the studio (slowly, of course, because I was 7 months pregnant), and I got a call from Lora Kelley. She wanted to do a fine art studio session for her own maternity portrait, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled: I knew that she would make an incredible subject, as well as bring her wonderful sense of style along with her to the shoot. As a makeup artist (see Lora Elaine), she has earned some of the highest endorsements in the state of Virginia, and I love her work!
Not only did she bring her style, she also brought her incredibly warm and generous attitude, mildly self-depricating humor, and general loveliness. And we had so much fun!
This post begins a series of posts from our session together. Stay tuned for posts of the full-family portraits that we made with her husband, the super-talented local photographer Eric Kelley, and their handsome little man, Henry.

Beautiful! And I love the dress, too.
