These girls are two of my favorite Fab 5 clients! Their mother finds the most amazing dresses for them. Thank you for being such wonderful subjects, ladies!

Get ready for a cute-attack! I’m amazed at the happiness exuded by this infant and her older brother. I had such a hard time narrowing their pictures down to the 10 best because they were so adorable!

All this week, we will be sharing our favorite photos from this past Saturday’s Fab 5 Day! It was my first official day back after the birth of Veronica Rose, and I had a bunch of fun connecting with all of the awesome families that came to have their children’s picture taken…including the two adorable little boys below.

We have one more Fab 5 this Spring, and then we are on break until the Fall!

This little boy had a good year. Every time I saw him, he had a huge smile on his face, and was hugging someone he loves.

Staring at these photos makes me think about what it must be like to be a three-year-old boy, where everything is new, and your biggest goal is to figure out how to have fun with whatever is in front of you. Dad enables additional discovery, because he can help show you, help reveal the greatness in the world without leaving the bonds of safety that he provides.

Having a 3-month-old like this one is like tending to the baby-sprout stage of your garden: you watch the little shoots pop out of the soil, and you make sure they’re protected and nourished at every opportunity, in all of their delicacy and early-life glory!

My sister, Ali, lives close enough to Charlottesville that she could drive her boys in for Sunday’s Holiday Fab 5. Maybe I should have had her write the post on “how to dress your kids for a studio session,” because these outfits rock out!

Meet this little 8-month-old baby, who’s facial expressions are like candy for the soul! She was just so gleeful during her little 5-minute session yesterday, and it was contagious. My favorite shot is the second-to-last in this series, where she continues to smile, but with an adult-like joy that I have never seen a baby express before. In particular, she has inner-eye brow raisers, or AU-1 in the FACS codes. (I’m mildly trained in SPAFF facial-coding, hehe!) It’s the sort of joy face that an adult expresses when they’re feeling overwhelming happiness mixed with a little sadness, like when you’re so happy that you cry during a wedding. It’s a mature sort of joy, and usually comes from knowing the world in a deeper way. It’s so interesting to see a baby express that!

Yesterday’s Holiday Fab 5 was booked solid, and quite fun: the studio was overflowing with cupcakes and holiday outfits! Stay tuned to this blog all this week, as we share our favorites from yesterday’s event!
