A Baby Birthday Documentary

Things have been BUSY around here. It’s always busy in a sense, but lately it’s been quite insane. Why? Well, there are a couple transitions going on. First off, I’m leaving a long stint as a researcher at the Child Study Center at UVa in 4 weeks to dedicate myself full-time to photography. I am thrilled to be fully self-employed – however, I will surely miss the lab. Until then, we’re frantically trying to recruit as many children as we can to complete the Child Affective Facial Expression stimulus set in time for my departure. (Know any Hispanic or Indian/South Asian children between the ages of 4 and 6? We’re still in need of these subjects to pose emotional faces for us! The visit is quick, easy, and we’ll pay you $20! For details, see this blog post.)

Secondly, I’m getting married on June 6th! This is very exciting, as my love’s family will be visiting us for the first time, and we’re going to host it in the studio! Down home Virginia BBQ, custom made lime green chandeliers, a bluegrass band, and the presence of our favorite people – how can you beat that?

So, now you know why I’ve been neglecting this blog….but what better way to come back from a blog hiatus than with a series of photos from a birthday party for a 2-year-old? Cutetown, here we come:

Colin turned 2 last Sunday, and loves imitating me with my camera:

The lush presence of a decorated cake in a full refrigerator:

The anticipation of cake!

More camera attempts, baby curl blazing:

Hey Cat! I love all of these… you are so good at what you do. But I have to say that my favorite is this last one, of the messy birthday room! So fantastic!!
